During lockdown I decided to use my newly acquired brick laying knowledge to good use in creating the beginnings of what would become a waterfall for our wildlife pond.
In clearing the garden as part of my putting in a path project I had an excess of soil and bricks to use on this project to help landscape some verticality next to the path that leads to the end of the garden.
To power the waterfall I had a local electrician come and install a socket close to where the waterfall was being built. As I already had an electric armoured cable powering my shed at the bottom of the garden the cost of this was reasonable.
The seating area here was raised and on a slope, so I removed the excess soil and levelled the area. I plugged in the pump and had to dig a channel through the path for the cable which I protected with a bit of garden hose. I then filled back in the channel I'd done and layed down the slabs and repointed.
This project was rewarding as it enhanced the wildlife pond we had already created. The sound of running water over the cascades is a really nice calming sound and recommend anyone to give it a go.
