Putting in a path

Following the Leylandii removal work I now turned my attention to putting in some interest in the garden by adding a path

Upcycling old paving

Reuse materials you already have to hand

While clearing out the back of the shed I found lots of old crazy paving slabs stacked up and covered in years of dead leaves.  I put these to one side to re-use at a later date on my crazy paving patio project

Preparing the path

Weed membrane & hardcore base

I had a couple of tonne bags of limestone crush mix delivered to put down over the weed membrane to form a base for the path.

It was hard work collecting this from the front drive a wheelbarrow at a time, but good exercise.

Word of warning - if you have children the small stones probably aren't the best option in the world if you don't want them kicked on your lawn or thrown in ponds! :)

Job Done

Putting in a path

Adding a path to the bottom of the garden really gave it a structure.  The fact you could wander round it endlessly was not lost on my little girl who enjoyed walking her prams around it.
